The photos make the rooms seem darker than they really are, particularly those facing the outside. If you prefer more natural light, select the outside (versus lane) facing rooms. The rooms are a bit small, but very well designed, appointed, easy to use, and luxurious for the price. Location is excellent. The seafood restaurant downstairs, kingi, has a great vibe, food, and drinks, as does cafe hanoi, which is next door, but not affiliated with the hotel. We requested adjoining rooms, and got two at the end of the hall with a central door, so felt like a suite (could put our luggage and other items in the shared vestibule). The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and polite, including reception, concierge, and housekeeping. Service is excellent.

We enjoyed breakfast in the Kingi restaurant, requested a small meal option and loved the chef's toasted 'Southland cheese roll' which was just perfect. Wait staff were all friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed a martini and olives in 'The libraries' each evening. Again, the staff member there was very welcoming and attentive and knew how to mix martinis! Front desk and concierge staff were helpful and friendly and helped with handling luggage for us. The fabric of the hotel, with wood, stones and exposed bricks - and a 5 star energy rating - was our reason for staying there and we were not disappointed.

We enjoyed everything about our staycation at the Hotel Britomart. The public foyer is welcoming and beautifully designed, and the rooms are an extension of that first impression. As returning guests, we enjoyed the comfort of the compact room, the amenities and the cosy shower room. The sansceuticals toiletries are wonderful and suit the vibe of the hotel. The location of the hotel makes exploring lots of different areas around town very easy and we were glad we could utilise the hotel bicycles. We felt rested and rejuvenated after our long-weekend staycation and would easily consider returning again.

The location of the Hotel Britomart can't be beat -- the Saturday market is just outside, it's in a largely pedestrian area so there's little traffic noise, you can easily walk to the ferry, to shopping, to many delightful restaurants, to the starting point for the Explorer hop on - hop off bus around the city. The staff is accommodating, friendly and pleasant. The rooms are clean, well-designed and the view from ours (9th floor) was spectacular. The elevators are fast. The restaurant, Kingi, offers superb breakfasts. A great base camp for exploring Auckland, Waiheke Island and much more.

Great rooms with comfortable beds and blackout blinds - for people who struggle to get sleep, the britomart may be where the struggle ends. Staff were very accommodating and super friendly. Stayed here for my birthday and was generously provided with drink vouchers during my stay. Excellent location, and I appreciate the measures taken to reduce unnecessary waste. A lovely hotel overall, I would happily recommend it.
